Welcome to The Rat Rod Shop, a website dedicated to rat rods and other custom vehicles. Here you will be able to find information about rat rods, view our custom projects, and even purchase parts for your own custom projects. One problem with owning a rat rod is finding parts for your car. Since all of the components and body panels are very old they can be hard to come by. Sometimes you can find old car bodies in old garages or barns just rusting away. You never know you could even get lucky at a local junk yard. The great thing is that rust is very much appreciated by rat rod enthusiasts. C J Gore |

What Is A Rat Rod
|
Rat rods are styles of hot rods that imitate the custom cars of the '40s, '50s and '60s. Rat rods should not be confused with traditional hot rods which are restored accurately to the time period. Rat rods are unfinished, sometimes unattractive and built with only the necessities to be driven. Rat rods aren't ultra glossy show cars. Instead a rat rod is a "unfinished" street rod that is intentionally left a bit rough around the edges. Recently, the term "rat rod" (or rat car as modern cars are not actually hot rods like the name suggests) has been used to describe almost any vehicle that appears unfinished or is built simply to be driven. |
